Christmas Construction Update from Carefree Cabins!

Merry ChristmasHappy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa to all our nature loving friends! It doesn’t look like we’re going to have a white Christmas this year in Hocking Hills. In fact, it looks more like we’ll have rain and fog for Christmas day.  But hey, anything is possible and we’re still holding out hope!

We wanted to post another quick construction update. It seems almost inconcievable that another whole month has gone by and the cabins aren’t ready yet. We keep reminding ourselves that all good things take time, and we’ve been contending with some pretty bad, and extremely cold, weather.

The Creekside Serenity cabin is still furthest along, and running about a week ahead of Sandstone Oasis. For that reason, most of the progress pictures will be for Creekside Serenity this time. However, the metal roof did get installed on Sandstone Oasis since our last update, so you’ll find a pic of that below as well.

For the Creekside, you can see the fireplace is framed in, the stairwell is in, and all the inside walls with tongue-and-groove are complete. The doors were installed at the last update, but doorknobs & locks have been installed now too. What you can’t see is, even the furnace is installed and it’s running, providing some much needed warmth for the construction crew during this frigid time of year!

This past week or so, there has been a whole lot of sanding in each cabin getting them ready to spray the inside walls with polyurethane. The furnace is probably going into the Sandstone Oasis sometime next week too.

While the construction crew has been busy at the build sites, we’ve been just as busy (well, almost) behind the scenes making sure we’re ready to start accepting renters in the new year. We’re really hoping the Creekside Serenity cabin will be staged and ready to roll sometime mid-t0-late January.

Stay tuned for more updates to come!  Again, we wish you all a very Happy Holiday Season and Happy New Year as well!
